From enjoying parades to running 5ks, there’s so much to do on St. Patrick’s day in and around Phoenix. So gather up your green garments and mark your calendar—here are the best ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Arizona.
Four Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Arizona
1: Catch a Parade
Parades are a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s day with the whole family. The festive floats and talented Irish dancers are certainly a sight to see! Luckily, there are many opportunities to catch a parade in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The parades in Tuscon and Phoenix are even followed by festivals where you can experience Irish music, crafts, culture, and more.

Pub crawls are a great way to carry on this tradition, because you can typically expect free entry into several participating venues to enjoy exclusive drink specials. There will be many festive pub crawls happening in Arizona this year—just remember to snag your tickets ahead of time so you don’t miss out.

3: Go for a Run or Walk
Whether you’re an avid runner or love to walk, you’ll be sure to have a great time at the Shamrock 10K/5K Run/Walk in Tempe on March 19th, 2023. The 5k race even has a fun twist—a leprechaun will be set loose, and any participant who passes the leprechaun and finishes the race will win a prize.
You must register for the 5k or 10k by Feb 28th, 2023, but you have until March 18th to register for the virtual run. The virtual run allows you to claim the medal and shirt if you can’t be there for race day but still want to run.
4: Learn About Irish Culture
Naturally, St. Patrick’s day is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Irish and Celtic culture. Make sure to check out the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library in Phoenix.
The cultural center is an interactive learning experience that aims to preserve the Arizona community’s Irish heritage and culture. On St. Patrick’s Day and many other dates throughout the year, you can join a Ceili dance class (beginners welcome) or the family story hour.
