While the holidays may be over, that doesn’t mean all the winter fun has to end! One of the favorite winter activities of the Phelps LaClair staff is ice skating. Even though we live in a desert climate, there are plenty of great ice skating rinks in Phoenix and its surrounding areas.
Let’s take a look at our favorite places to strap on some ice skates and hit the ice!
Skate Westgate
Looking for an outdoor ice skating rink near Phoenix? From now through January 17th, you and your family can enjoy ice skating outdoors at Skate Westgate in Glendale. Held in Fountain Park in the Westgate Entertainment District, this outdoor rink is perfect for skaters of all ages and ability levels. Bring your own skates or rent a pair if you don’t have any. Skate Westgate also offers options for parties and group events.

AZ Ice Arcadia, Gilbert & Peoria
Year-round ice skating is available in Phoenix, Gilbert, and Peoria thanks to AZ Ice. All three state-of-the-art ice skating rinks feature public skating, skate lessons, hockey leagues, birthday parties, and much more! AZ Ice Arcadia ice skating rink in Phoenix is home to the Arizona Titans Hockey youth program. AZ Ice Gilbert offers an array of programs, including figure skating, power skating, and speed skating. AZ Ice Peoria has lots of programming for kids, including the Skate, Rattle & Roll summer camp and Little Howlers hockey program for kids ages 5 to 8.

Ice Den Chandler & Scottsdale
Skaters of all ages can enjoy both Ice Den Chandler and Ice Den Scottsdale all year long! In addition to public skating sessions, both ice skating rinks offer skating lessons for all ages. Ice Den Chandler also offers FitSkate—a six-week fitness program on the ice for ages 14 and up. If ice sports are more your thing, both Ice Den Chandler and Ice Den Scottsdale hold a variety of hockey programs, including adult and youth programs, as well as camps where hockey players can work on their skills.
